To offer you an authentic Jaisalmer experience, your evening will conclude with a luxurious open-air dinner at “Sun Dew,” set under the desert sky near the majestic Jaisalmer Fort. As night falls, the illuminated golden fort glows against the starlit sky, casting a magical aura across the landscape. Dining beneath its grandeur, with traditional Rajasthani flavors and live folk melodies, will be a highlight of your royal journey—a memory etched in gold.
+ Day 8: Jodhpur – The Blue City of Royal Legacy and Timeless Charm
Your journey through Rajasthan ascends to new heights of grandeur as you arrive in Jodhpur, famously known as the Blue City of India. Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, this historic city is the second largest in Rajasthan and a vibrant canvas of royal heritage, stunning architecture, and rich cultural traditions.
As you approach the outskirts near Mandore, the regal ambiance begins to unfold. A warm welcome awaits at Mehrangarh Fort, where the Royal Brass Band performs traditional melodies reminiscent of royal processions from a glorious bygone era. This ceremonial welcome sets the perfect tone for your deep dive into Jodhpur’s majestic past.
Jodhpur is renowned for the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, and a series of palatial structures that symbolize the power and prosperity of the Marwar kingdom. Yet, the city’s charm lies equally in its humble details—the stone-carved windows, intricate jharokhas, and the iconic indigo-blue houses that wash the old city in a calming, mystical hue. This splash of blue, believed to keep homes cool and repel insects, has also earned the city its poetic name.
Beyond its majestic monuments, Jodhpur is a living gallery of artistry, where skilled hands still craft embroidered fabrics, handmade artifacts, and traditional Rajasthani jewelry.
Get ready to immerse yourself in a vibrant fusion of architecture, art, and royal history. From panoramic fort views to meandering blue alleys, Jodhpur offers a truly unforgettable chapter of your Rajasthan adventure.
+ Day 9: Bharatpur & Agra – Exploring Rajput Resilience and Mughal Grandeur
Your royal expedition continues as you journey to Bharatpur, a city rich in military heritage and architectural excellence. Founded in the 17th century by Jat ruler Maharaja Suraj Mal, Bharatpur was once a fully fortified kingdom, famously known as “Lohagarh” (The Iron Fort). Unlike many grand palaces built for display, Lohagarh Fort was engineered for defense—earning its name through impenetrable walls, strategic moats, and even a line of jawed crocodiles that guarded the outer boundary. This fort stands as a rare example of military genius fused with craftsmanship, reflecting the tactical brilliance of its creators.
Lohagarh boasts two distinct gates: the Ashtadhatu Gate to the north, adorned with elephant engravings, and the Chowburja Gate to the south, supported by four iconic pillars. Inside, the preserved armory, cannons, and historical artifacts offer a striking look into the past, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts.
Your visit to Bharatpur continues with a serene expedition to the Keoladeo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a bird lover’s paradise. This lush wetland sanctuary is home to migratory birds from across the globe, including Siberian Cranes, Storks, Herons, Bee-eaters, and Kingfishers. Whether you're an ornithologist or a nature admirer, the vibrant biodiversity of Keoladeo will leave you enchanted.
Enjoy a regal breakfast at Mahal Khas, a historic 198-year-old residence once inhabited by Maharaja Suraj Mal. Now owned by Mr. Bhagat Singh, the palace serves traditional cuisine in a setting steeped in royal legacy—offering a rare opportunity to dine where history lives.
After soaking in the charm of Bharatpur, your journey leads to the historic city of Agra, nestled along the banks of the Yamuna River. Founded by Sultan Sikandar Lodi in 1504, Agra rose to prominence under the Mughal Empire, becoming a focal point of architectural innovation and imperial splendor.
At the heart of Agra lies the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this white marble mausoleum is the epitome of eternal love and Mughal artistry. Intricately inlaid with semi-precious stones, floral motifs, and calligraphy, the Taj Mahal is a mesmerizing vision of elegance and emotion that will forever stay in your heart.
Agra is not just a city—it's a journey through the pages of India’s imperial past. With architectural gems like the Agra Fort and Itimad-ud-Daulah, this iconic destination promises a grand finale to your day of discovery.
+ Day 10: Arrival in Delhi – A Grand Farewell to the Palace on Wheels
As your majestic journey aboard the Palace on Wheels draws to a close, you’ll arrive back in Delhi at approximately 7:00 AM, bringing an end to an unforgettable exploration of royal Rajasthan and Mughal India. What began with curiosity and excitement has now transformed into a treasure trove of memories, culture, and timeless experiences.
Enjoy your final breakfast on board at 7:30 AM, reflecting on the incredible destinations, heritage sites, and warm hospitality that made this journey so special. From opulent palaces and mighty forts to wildlife safaris and cultural immersions, the Palace on Wheels has offered a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After breakfast you will be transferred to your hotel.
Later in the day, proceed for a half day tour of Akshardham Temple. The term Akshardham is the combination of two words ‘Akshar’ means ‘eternal’ and ‘Dham’ means ‘abode’. Overall it actually means the abode of eternal values, virtues and principles which are mentioned in Vedas and Puranas of Hindu mythology. Apart from all this, the complex of Akshardham Temple displays numerous traditional aspects, beautiful architecture, Indian culture and spirituality. In the center the main complex is built on the principles of Vaastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shashtra which is called Akshardham Mandir. Akshardham Temple of Delhi is one of the prime attractions in Delhi where one can witness exclusive architectural charm with more than 234 beautifully carved pillars, 9 elaborate domes, 20 quadrangle spires and 20000 sculptures of spiritual personalities from India. It is one of the major attractions for history buffs and art lovers as one can here easily enjoy intricate art and flawless craftsmanship.
